OVERVIEW
The Skilled Worker visa is a UK immigration route designed for foreign nationals who have a job offer from a UK employer and meet certain eligibility criteria. It replaced the Tier 2 (General) work.
Your dependents (spouse/partner and children) can apply to join you in the UK under this visa.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Job Offer: You must have a job offer from a licensed UK employer who has been approved by the Home Office to sponsor workers.
• Skill Level: The job must be at a required skill level (typically RQF level 3 or above, equivalent to A-levels).
• Salary Requirements: You must be paid a minimum salary, which usually starts from £38,700 or the ‘going rate’ for the specific job (whichever is higher).
A lower, discounted threshold of £30,960 applies for roles listed on the Immigration Salary List or if the applicant is a new entrant to the labour market. Eligible applicants relying on a relevant PhD will now have to earn £34,830, and for those relying on a relevant STEM PhD, the new minimum threshold is £30,960.
• English Language: Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency by passing an approved English language test or showing proof of qualifications that were taught in English.
• Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS): Your employer must provide a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the role you’ve been offered.
APPLICATION FEE
The Home Office application fee The cost of the Skilled Worker visa can vary based on the length of stay and whether you’re applying from inside or outside the UK. Fees range from around £625 to over £1,400..
Healthcare Surcharge:You will also be liable to pay an immigration health surcharge to be able to access the UK’s NHS. This is calculated on an annual basis, payable upfront, for the length of your visa.
TB Testing It is a requirement to show that you are free from TB if you are traveling to the UK and are applying for a visa which allows you to stay for more than 6 months at a time . TB testing is done through the IOM
English Language Requirement
Most Skilled Worker visa applicants will need to prove they meet the English language requirement The required level of English is a minimum level B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages scale for reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.

Having submitted your application and supporting documentation for a UK ancestry visa, and enrolled any biometric information, a decision will usually be made within 3 weeks.
After Receiving the Visa
