What is Document Attestation?
Depending on the country you have applied to, you will very likely need to have certain documents attested in order for the employer to process your work visa.
In order for documents to be attested they have to go to one or more of the following places:
- Notary Public and the High Court
- Department of Basic Education as well as Umalusi
- SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority)
- HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa)
- DIRCO
- The Relevant Embassy / Consulate
Typical examples of these documents are:

2. Police Clearance
3. Marriage Certificate
4. Children’s Birth Certificate
In brief, the process of attesting documents is as follows:
Before you can have documents attested, the embassy requires you to apostille or high court authenticate the documents. Thereafter, you can have it taken by us to the embassy in question.
The embassies all have a different fee and time to wait. These fees vary from time to time based on demand and currency fluctuations. Sometimes, the fee is very expensive and worth noting well in advance to prepare monetarily.
NB: ALL DEGREES TO BE ATTESTED NEEDS TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY LETTER FROM SAQA.
